The Wasatch Backcountry Skiing Map is an iOS app that offers a digital version of the popular paper map and website (visit WBSkiing.com). This highly regarded app provides access to over 1,000 backcountry locations in Utah’s Central Wasatch mountains. It is an essential tool for hikers and backcountry travelers in Utah.
The app features a user-friendly map interface, similar to other mapping apps. It utilizes your device's GPS to display your current location on a high-resolution topo map. With just a few taps, the integrated compass's "destination arrow" will effortlessly guide you to your desired backcountry ski destination.
Furthermore, with a simple tap, you can explore extensive information about hundreds of locations through the Wasatch Backcountry Skiing Guide website. This includes detailed descriptions and photographs.
In addition to location services, the app provides real-time data on your current elevation, lat/long coordinates, and offers the option to share your location via email. With another tap, you can access comprehensive information about more than 200 locations. This includes skiing difficulty, skinning distance, vertical climb, parking considerations, and more.
It's worth noting that contrary to a posted review, this app does not require cell service or a contract with a cell service provider. It operates seamlessly without these requirements.
